Try Melev's Reef. Marc Levinson is the king of sumps.

Yes, I have a segmented compartment that is the drain/skimmer compartment with a gate valve mod on the G2 so that all water that goes through the sump gets a chance to get skimmed. Then on to the center compartment(refugium/duplex eggcrate concept) in which I have to give credit where credit is due, Shaun Wilson a.k.a. Mr. Wilson came up w/ this idea and it is awesome. You basically allow the system to be is own filtration system, with all the sea squirts, tunicates, hard tube worms, etc. that populate the eggcrate which is a medium for the growth of all these wonderful creatures. Any way, the final compartment is the return after a simple two pane bubble trap. Thanks for reading my long ranting post. LOL.

Here is mine. The drain goes to the left most chamber where the skimmer is sitting. The filter sock is there for 3 days for every water change. The next section is the bubble trap, fuge and a heater. The last chamber is the return, ATO and another heater. Very simple.

hey joe can you give me a link to mr.Wilson's duplex refuge concept?

I think I am going to go with refuge on the left return in the middle and skimmer on the right...I also plan to do a 20 gallon display marco refuge...I am calling it the pod palace. I will split the over flow most will go to the skimmer some will go to the 20 gallon marco tank then back to the in sump cheto/LR refuge then over flow in the middle chamber to be pumped back to DT.

Just made a sump exactly like yours. Haven't run it yest. Are you getting micro bubbles?

None. I want a single path of flow because this would completely eliminate all bubbles - every single drop of water has to go through the bubble trap. The second reason I do this is to potentially force all water to pass through both the skimmer and fuge before returning to DT. I don't want water to just pass the skimmer or fuge; I want both.

I am actually not entirely sure. I will measure it when I got home if you really want to know. The thickness of the glass shouldn't normally have any impact since the baffles would not experience any pressure: water on both side and flow is relatively slow.

This one works, you'll just have to go to the first page in the thread. It is a long thread, but worth the read.
Also when you go to the first page of the duplex sump thread, check out the link for the reef videos. When it comes up click on the second one over from the top left, that is Shawn Wilson talking about how he came up with this idea.

Thanks. This makes me more confident on my sump design.

It's a great sump concept, instead of just having your skimmer skim some of the water, this way forces all water that comes from the display to go through the skimmer because the skimmer's output is a pvc elbow that moves the processed water to the next compartment.
