Particles in water

Hello everyone!

I have a biocube 14 that is almost a month old. I have removed the bioballs, placed a bag of carbon on top of the drip tray in chamber 2, installed the biocube protein skimmer, and a koralia nano 240. 9lbs live rock, 10 lbs live sand.

Tank inhabitants are:

5 Astrea snails, 2 Nassarius snails, and 1 Scarlet Skunk cleaner shrimp.

My problem is that there are little particles floating around in the water. Nothing too major and the water is not cloudy. Just random particles everywhere, not air bubbles.

How can I get rid of these and have actual 'crystal clear' water?

Filter sock with eliminate almost all of the "marine snow." I use dual 100 micron socks and my water appears polished crystal clear.

+1 on the filter sock. As a general rule if u want clear water use mechanical filtration such as a filter sock for the larger stuff (particles u see floating around) and chemical filtration such as carbon for the small stuff (cloudy water).

Any suggestions on implementing a filter sock into a biocube?

Not sure how your set up looks. If you can, just place the filter socks over the drain line(s) before going thru anything else. . In my case the two drain lines each goes into a sock, then after exiting it goes into my sump.

I Googled your set up and to be honest I have now idea how the filter system looks in the back. You can also by the 100 micron material as a flat liner rather then a sock. This could be laid on top of the drip tray but with caution. These filters get clogged up quick (I change mine every three to four days) and you could risk a flood. If you keep on top of it you should be fine.

Thx. Hopefully I can figure a way to implement one, as everything else in my cube is great, just the floaties bother me.

I'm in the exact same spot, lol.

So if I place something for mechanical filtration on top of the drip tray, where should I place the bag of carbon? It's currently on top of the drip tray in chamber 2, and under that the chamber is full of water so I don't get the waterfall sound.

The carbon can go anywhere you have water flow going over or through the media.

is there space in the back to hot filter like a whisper? if you can leave your lid off for awhile you could run that in the back heck even a cheap walmart hot filter should clear that up in couple of hours. and if its a really bad problem you can get a hang on tank magnium its bulky and cheap but has a nobypass pool looking filter made for polishing tank water.
