I guess in that case it doesn't matter - can't kill those crabs even if you were to try! I just assumed you had a mature tank.

Good luck and post any questions you have.

It is my hope that the Apex will assist me in acheiving a mature tank!

As for the crabs I still check on them in the mornings and evenings. My daughter has already named one and claimed it as hers. My son has been eyeing the crabs and snails too trying to decide if he should "adopt" one.

Thanks and I appreciate the offer. I've been impressed with the level of activity in this forum and definitely feel more comfortable seeing the level of online support available.

Thanks again. Oh, and the new user guide is an excellent resource!

Sweet! I'm hoping to get mine this week but we'll see. Thought about ordering online but decided to support one of the LFS instead.

Good call. (not sure where the clapping smiley/emoticon went)

Works like a champ, small and compact. The addition of a single digital input for a float switch ATO would have made this an ideal stand alone product. Power monitoring like the EB4/EB8 would have been a perk too and I was kind of surprised I didn't see that.

Agree, especially on the float switch. But, as a base unit to build on, I think it's nearly perfect for a nano.

Sorry, didn't mean to make my message so brief since I was at work at the time. It's been running my 15g tank for over 30 hours now and I like it a lot. The only controller I've ever used is the ReefKeeper Lite, and the Jr is far superior, especially its web interface and graphing features. The built-in web server has been occasionally sluggish and even fails to load a page properly, but it's fine after a reload. The Jr seems to have all the programming features as the other Apex units 'cause it uses the same manual.

Without a display connecting it online is a must, but it wasn't difficult 'cause it includes a software utility for both Windows and Mac OS X that finds the Jr's IP address. My Jr isn't exactly online 'cause my router is too far away, so I have it temporarily hooked up directly to my laptop's ethernet, which works, but I can't use this setup to test out email features yet.

I can also report that it doesn't seem monitor its own power usage, but it reports the amps from the EB8 just fine. I would have liked a built-in speaker for alarms to let me know that I should get online to see what's wrong.

thanks for the run down. I was looking at the RKL but the built in ethernet and control over ethernet won me over. Then I started reading how superior the Apex units were in general. Made it an easy decision. Fortunately my tank is about 12 inches from my router so connectivity shouldn't be an issue.
