Planning on setting up Calcium reactor this week
I need your help folks yet again;-)
This is what i have so far: used MRC double chamber reactor with blueline pump http://www.myreefcreations.com/instructions/CR-Dual.pdf This is the regulator: http://www.aquariumplants.com/Carbon...m?1=1&CartID=1 I already have Digital Aquatics controller with PH probe and its reading the current water. I don't want to use this probe for Calcium reactor. what are the choices? what do you suggest that i buy for Calcium reactor? how many do i need? some says good to have two PH probes installed? Do you have calcium reactor with same components like mine? Thanks in advance for all your help folks. |

What I did before I bought my controller with a second probe is to have the reactor effluent drip into a cup which then overflows into the sump. I used a measuring cup and hung the handle on the side of the sump. I placed the ph probe in the cup which read the effluent ph and controlled the regulator. I could then take the probe and place it in the sump to get a tank water reading whenever I wanted. After I bought my controller, I now have a probe in the reactor which controls the regulator and one in the sump.
Hope this makes sense. Good luck.

I would highly recommend using a pH probe and controller to manage the calcium reactor. Relying on bubble rate out of the regulator is rife with potential failures. I prefer to measure the pH inside the chamber, or since you have the dual chamber you can measure the pH in the line that runs between the two chambers.
Also, it is very easy to overdose on alkalinity and/or calcium when starting up a new calcium reactor. Take daily tests of both until you understand how it's affecting your tank.
