Iwaki external pump
Hi
I am plan to use external pump (Iwaki MD ) in my sump but I do not know what is the highest flow rate that I can use in my reef tank My tank is 238 gallon with two overflows. The linear overflow size is 16" and the drain pipe is 1.5" for each. |

i had a 120 4x2x2 with two 1.5 inch drains and ran a 70rlt with no problem, also a 1.5 inch drain can do at least 900gph maybe more, but the 70rlt was more then enough maybe to much on my tank, blow sand away from front glass. what are the dimensions of your tank?

i would say the 70rlt at most but you could get away with a smaller one. I got rid of mine do to energy usage (Over 300 watts) and got a water blaster pump (110-130 watts) instead.
