Vodka Dosing with Skimmer on

Hi Reefers,

I recently started dosing my smaller reef with Vodka. Today was the first day. I underdosed, adding only 0.1ml of vodka to the tank. Nearly 10 min later, my reef octopus skimmer began going nuts. It started to overflow from the collection cup.

I want to know, in your opinion, is the resulting overflow of the skimmer due to the sudden addition of Vodka to the tank. Is the skimmer just trying to pull the vodka out of the tank.

Also has any other reefers had luck with vodka dosing, if so how has your skimmer reacted on the first few days and long term? Will the skimmer start working again after getting used to the vodka being in the water?

Thanks again,
Billybloo

I get an increase in skimmate but not in 10 minutes. That sounds odd to me.
