Tunze 6045 on Wave Timer

Does anybody know if it would be possible to use my controller to ocsiliate these pumps to run for an hour on and an hour off? I though I heard previously that as long as the frequency was not too rapid then these pumps would be fine but I am not sure of that.

You might want to post this question in the Tunze sponsor forum to get the definitive answer from Roger.

I used to run 6065's, and Roger told me that it would be fine to turn them off then on a couple of times a day to feed my fish. I'm also pretty sure I've seen him state that running the non-controllable pumps on any kind of wave timer is not recommended, and will void the warranty.

Edit to add: oops, I see you've already posted in the Tunze forum, my bad.

Thank for the info. I had thought Roger said that they would work on a longer on/off cycle but it is not really best for the pumps. I will probably just run them on constantly and will eventually get some controllable Tunzes ( yes I know that these will not work on standard wave timers, I already have a 7095 controller).

Yeah, I definitely felt that the fewer on-off cycles these pumps get, the better. The anti-reverse feature consists of the prop smacking into the front cover of the pump, and I was forever getting chipped prop tips.

The new blue props helped quite a bit, but it looked like eventually the stops in the front covers would be the next to fail.

The controllable pumps are a lot nicer, I now have two 6205's and a 7096, but man the cost is a lot higher too.

Roger just responded and said that they would be fine with atleast 15 minutes run time but there will be chattering on start up, i.e. anti-reversing feature. I will go with what I said and run these constantly. I know what you mean about the price. I have never, until now, paid over $300 for a powerhead before. Can't wait to shell out the bucks for two 6105 and two 6205.
