Should I close in my stand

I have a 220 Gal with a Reef Octopus Extreme 250. So far minus the skimmer it is pretty quiet with the doors open due to the way I designed my sump I think.

So I was thinking of closing in the stand in the back. Not totally but about 19inches high up leaving about 5" of an opening for wires and tubing if needed and of course air flow.

Not sure how much it will quiet the tank with the skimmer on but it has to do something I would think.

Does your stand have doors in the front? Is it against a wall?

I would not close it off unless you run a fan. Otherwise you are likely to get mold growing from the high humidity. The humidity also is bad for the electronics in the cabinet.

The only fan I will have will be the one blowing into my sump to keep my water cooler. I recently installed it under my 80Gal and my temp is now a consistent 78.5 when it was always 80-81.

I was not planning on closing it in all the way. I was going to leave a 6 inch gap along the top.

Yes it is against a wall.

Here is a diagram a whipped up. The Magenta boxes represent the treated plywood.
