angelfish

Is there a link between freshwater angels and saltwater angels?
I'm just curious because I keep both and they are not at all alike

Are there any saltwater angels that have a similar body to freshwater angels?

there are none that i can think of. all saltwater angels that I can think of do not have the elongated fins that freshwater angels have. saltwater angels are gorgeous though and dwarfs do not need a massive tank to thrive either which is nice.

I do not think so, FW angels are cichlids. I read somewhere that cichlids are related to a SW species of fish, either damsels or dottybacks/pseudochromis(pardon spelling). I think it is damsels. I would give you a link, but I am unable to find where I read it.

it's a common name descriptor, that's the only link. supposedly due to similar appearance, although I dont' think they really look all that similar

Exactly. No relationship, not even similar appearance. If there were a saltwater black veil tailed angel, they would be very popular.
