you def have to use PVC glue or cement or water will leak. I used standard PVC cement (they sell it at the LFS as well) so I'm sure its fine

Usually you have to buy the primer separate, but yes, you need to use the primer first and the glue, and as far as I know, all the standard primer and glue you can buy at the hardware stores are reef safe after it cures.

It will say on the cement can...I think if Im not mistaken it is 12 hours to fully cure (I could be wrong so check with the cement you purchase). I had to do an emergency pump change once and had to replace some PVC and I let it dry for only a couple hours and it held up.... but if your not in am emergency and have the time, be patient and let it cure for the entire amount of recommended time |

..... actually just did some reading, apparently some pvc glue dry's and 'can be used' after only 5 minutes, but a full cure is somewhere around 24 hours. Just be safe and let it cure for the 24 hours so the water stays inside your tank

No need to use the primer if you get the right cement. I just use the clear stuff and it has held great for multiple years

I got the dual pack at home depot for my plumbing. The primer with the cement and I have seen no ill effects. Just be sure it's dry.

Standard primer and cement harden up quickly, and are leakproof in less then a few min. A full cure may be 24 hours....but I doubt it given the small amt. necessary to make a solid connection. In the event it's necessary to make a repair, a hour is more then enough time for things to be ok. A FW rinse doesn't hurt...but it's not necessary.
