Dry Rock Decision

I have decided to go the route of dry rock this time around.

I am considering BRS and Reef Rock right now. Opinions? I'd like to hear from people who bought from either. Someone who bought from both and could compare would be great.

Also has anyone bought RR sand? I saw it while I was looking at rocks and for 14 something for 40lbs it seems to be a good price but is it good sand? I do plan on having a jawfish. I'll add rubble for him. Don't know if this equates into the sand equation.

I went with Key Largo Marco Rock (marcorocks.com), I love it. For the sand I went with Tropic-Eden Reef Flakes. Its the best sand/rock I have even used.

BRS Pukani. Love it. Lighter rock so goes a lot further and I like the looks of it. Fairly new to the hobby but have Fiji and Pukani and much prefer the Pukani. Also a big BRS fan. Was at my door 3 days from order (std shipping) and very little breakage.

I bought most of the rock for my 120 from Reef Cleaners. The prices are good, and you can specify what size rocks that you want.

Don't have much to contribute here, but I'm curious about Reef Rocks as well. Their sand and rock is much cheaper than any other rock that I've found, and I'm curious if the rock is as nice as it looks online.

Also, for anyone who's gotten both RR rock and BRS rock, does the BRS Pukani rock look similar to the RR rock in person? I'm planning to get some rock from BRS as well, since I like how tanks look with several kinds of rock.

I bought BRS pukani and received large pieces. Great looking rock. I also ordered 10 lbs of shelf rock and it was one really big cool piece. Arrived quickly and was packed well.

I got BRS ecorock and pukani and wish I went with all pukani. That rock is so porous with holes big enough for fish to sleep in Be aware that it will leech phosphates but I cycled my tank with it so it was no biggie to me.

I have a combination of pukani and shelf from brs. Love them both & have a large piece of shelf that makes a great centerpiece and cave in my aquascape. I had a similar experience with phosphates leaching but easily managed with time and gfo.

I used shimp to start the cycle then started adding small amounts of pellet food to continue to build bacteria populations until I started adding livestock. Here is a decent thread on startup, there are many more.
