Can a maxi-jet do this?

I use a maxi-jet 1200 to do water changes with and it works great. Can a maxi-jet push water through 40 feet of 1/2" tubing that is laying on the ground, then up 5-6 feet at the end (to my tank)? If not, any cheap suggestions?

What every you buy it's going to be $50 or more. I have a rio 3100 for my return that does 900gph. It can do your 4-6 ft easily, but I'm not sure about 40 ft flat. I paid $52 on doctors foster and smith for it.

I'm not sure if a maxi can do that. If it can it will be really slow. I would look into the bigger maxi jets. There utility pump line is pretty good.

i dont think it would do that distance well , but with lift at the end its very doubtful. plan to drain the lines after each change ? i would be worried about stagnant water and dirty pipes .. i use a wooden 4 wheeled dolly with a 40 or so gallon tub on it , put my buckets in that to move them from one side of the basement to the other , what has you thinking about this plan..out of curiosity ??

for a $30 pump my maxi-jet 1200 works great as my single return pump but I don't think it would push that distance, I'd be using a nice MAG drive for that and might be even wary then.

Thank you for the response, I am now rethinking my plan to do water changes. I was going to mix it in the garage and just go back and forth with tubing from there. It is about 30ft to my tank, then 5 feet up. I don't think I would of had a problem getting the water out of the tank, it was just doing that 5 foot overhead.

The maximum head is 70 inches. So although it takes little energy to go the 40 feet (only friction loss and a bigger pipe could fix this) you won't have much flow especially of you are closer to 6 feet (72 inches of head pressure).
