My long awaited O. scyllarus
Well, yesterday I finally scored a Peacock. Some guy locally contacted me through Craigslist and offered to sell me his for $50. I gladly said "Yes". Don't know if it's male or female yet but I will. It's about 5 inches. It took a chunk of shrimp today but gave it back. I'll be working on that. I did notice I am missing 2 hermit crabs though. Plus, I heard it smashing something throughout the day. Probably my crabs? It has also built an impenetrable fortress. So far, so good. Keep my fingers crossed. Most of you know that I got it but I thought I would start a new thread for the Peacock addicts like myself. I'm gonna take video of it as the days progress and make a sweet video. Here's a teaser...I mean trailer. Egh, how about both!

That mantis looks HUGE. Like huge enough for Billy Fucillo to be proud of it. Nice score, beautiful animal!

Haha, I'm glad that joke did not go to waste. Though I know he does have a dealership out in Vegas now. Doubt you would get an local advertisements for it though.

I don't doubt he has a dealership in Vegas. Pushing his Hyundai's with his 100 ft. blow up gorilla. I know you've seen it! It's Huuuuuge!

Seen it? I'm more than half tempted to pop it! That and he has a lot of wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men.

All of these Peacock threads are making me want one! So beautiful... Has she tried to rearrange things, yet? I know my new P. Ciliata has been in the tank 4 (?) days now, and the tank looks completely different.

Peacocks are REALLY pretty for sure. I pondered one for a long long time (as everyone here I'm sure remembers with all my annoying questions) but decided since I'm only going to have one nice tank, that a mixed reef with high lighting was better and went with the Ternatensis. Mie is not nearly as colorful as others of his/her species though, but it could be the lighting also. Its currently super heavy blue.

Nice looking Peacock. Nice vid, I find it amusing when they retreat to their burrow in a cloud of substrate.

Thanks everyone. @FLMantis iPhone 4 camera for pics & video. 720p HD. Not too bad for a cellphone. lol
All is well with my Peacock btw. I love how it closes up the front of it's burrow every night with a clam shell. Great idea for a door. It has also taken a ball of cheato I put in there and pulled it all apart to fill in the gaps around the entrances to it's burrow. And Yes StephLionfish, it has rearranged my reef tanks refugium to it's liking. Don't they all... Currently waiting for a tank to cycle so it can be transferred to it's permanent home. We can wait it out and neither of us seem to be stressing. Patience is key if you want a successful tank! |

Wow awesome pictures. Wish I could take pics that good with my phone... My phone can't even focus on my tank cause the LEDs freak it out.
