What happened to Orbitec LEDs?

So ...

Just to recap: a company called Orbitec applied for, and was granted, a patent that covered (if I have this right) the controller that PFO used for its Solaris lights. Orbitec's patent was public well before PFO had delivered its first Solaris unit, so PFO largely sunk itself by not investing in a $500 patent search before going to market with its revolutionary lighting system.

Around the time PFO went under, due to a combination of pending patent litigation and some rather expensive warranty issues, Orbitec came out with a statement saying that Orbitec would be delivering its own LED lights for aquarium use "together with aquarium industry partners."

Has anyone heard anything from Orbitec since then?

Wondering the same thing here...only other big company that seems to be going with LED lighting right now is AquaIllumination.

LOL here's an old thread asking the same question: "if Orbitec is so interested in LED's for aquariums, why haven't they developed anything?"

They applied for their LED patent in December, 2004. Here we are, almost 7 years later, waiting patiently. So far the only thing they have done is sue a well-regarded aquarium lighting company...

They are patent campers, they have absolutely no intention of marketing anything - they only want the revenue from licensing. Really should change the patent law - good for 20 if you produce a product, good for 5 if you only camp.
