skimmer+sock=trouble

Every time I put a clean sock on my skimmer goes nuts for two days. I wash them in the wash with one cap full of bleach. How do I get this to stop?

Mine used to go nuts when I put the sock in dry. Now I rinse the sock first in RO water, and never have that problem anymore. Hope that works...

it could be left over surfactants from detergent in the washer.

try running an extra hot rinse cycle before you wash your bags.

Soak the filter socks in a 5 gallon bucket of RO water overnight before throwing them in your sump.

Run an extra rinse cycle before and after you wash in washing machine with bleach, rinse in a bucket with RODI water and then put in the dryer. I do this and my skimmer doesn't skip a beat. And the sock is right beside the skimmer pump intake.

This is my second week doing a 24 hour pre soak and all seems well. No more crazy skimmer.
