6 is just great. Had 6 over my 90. Had 8 too. Started bleaching coral. I would say 6 @ to 8 hour liht cycle a day with them all. ANd I ran two blue + for 10 hours.

Anymore than six would be a waste on a 18" wide tank IMO.

I had a 6 bulb tek fixture and though it grew everything, I really wished that I had the 8 bulb just for the extra configuration. That's just me though.

so no one has a problem growing sps everywhere in the tank wiht a 6 bulb tek?

I built my own full hood with 7 T5's on my 90 they are being drove by 2 660's I can grow anything I use 4 for Atinics and 3 for day lights all ATI's but a red wave just for the color. I don't have the day lights on for very long so I guess the 4 on the 660's are plenty oh and have a german hammered reflectur behind them all
