FO cycle questions
I'm waiting for my 70g tank to come in and I have a few questions.
Does a FO tank need to cycle? If so do you change the water weekly when you are waiting for it to cycle or do you do it after it cycles? How often do you check the water while you are waiting for it to cycle? Thanks in advance, mcaillouet |

First, yes it must cycle. Water changes are optional, some people like to do them if they are trying to save life on Live Rock, it may prolong the cycle a bit but it can also help some critters survive. Since a typical cycle takes anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, I would start testing the water at about 3 weeks after you initiate the cycle.
Welcome & good luck. |

Thanks for you reply. I will not be using live rock, it is a FO tank.
