skimmer problem

i have an issue with my skimmer. the skimmer that when i tested it is was working fine but now that it is in my sump it will not fill past 1/2 way. the skimmer that i am using is a emperor aquafoam maker 2 and i am using a rio pump to drive it that pushes 660 gph. i added a venturi intake on it to introduce but have tested it with that too if i need to post pics i will but any help is appreciated. i spoke with someone who thought that i might have a leak somewhere so the pump is not pumping to its fullest any other thoughts??

ok so i took the skimmer out and filled another tank to about the height of water in the sump in the garage and played with it some. the only way i can slow it to keep it filled is to block the return to the tank...should i just put a ball valve on it and adjust is to keep it at a good level?

If the skimmer is brand new, you may need to wash it out with Hot water to get all of the oils out of the acrylic. The only other way to adjust the level is to adjust the stand pipe overflow.
