New 55g Tank and quick question

Been looking into getting saltwater for years and finally got a 55g. Ttank is pretty new. Only been up for 3 days and i got 60lbs of live rock in the tank.

I found a little tiny starfish, possibly not even a half of an inch in diameter. Is it common to get one from the sand or live rock? How do you care for the little guy?

One minute he was stuck on the glass before i went to bed. The next day i woke up and he was gone, so im sure he is hiding and obviously alive. Any help on this would be great.

Thanks

I had the same thing (looks like tiny brittle stars) on my live rock for my first tank years ago. Didn't do anything special and they survive through the first month without any special care or feeding. Probably feed off whatever that was on the live rock.

Good luck, and you will start finding all kinds of different things on your live rocks.

Look up asterina star fish I often find them as hitchhikers, so folks use them as food for some shrimp species, but they may both some corals.

I looked it up and it does seem to be an asteria starfish. I should of took a picture.

In terms of placing powerheads how should I place them? I got one right in the middle of the tank on the side. I got one more that I can add if I should.

What size powerheads are they? Running one on each side facing each other isn't a bad start and it keep the water turbulent and random to the ends. Once you get into certain corals you may want to change it up though for a certain flow pattern.
