There are plenty of places to buy an RO/DI filter, google search them, you can find them for less than $200. You can purchase it from stores, but make sure it is distilled water, not "spring" water, but that gets expensive quickly. These filters are an invaluable investment.

RO by itself has difficultly removing some of the ions from the water.

No, different products. Just go to your local fish store and buy the RO/DI water from them. Or even salt water from the LFS.

you can get a RO/DI economy from BRS for $129.99.

Petsmart sells 3 stage ro units for like $100?

I bought the ro/di from brs and it has been working great, glad my water is included in my apartment rent though lol.. so much waste water.

Be careful with water from the fish store too! Not all stores take care of their units properly and can have a fairly high TDS reading.

x2 give them a call and they will set you up with what you need. You need to know what your city uses to disinfect your water with. If you have Chloramines you need 2 stages just to take care of that crap! I have them in my water and need a 5 stage unit! 2 stages are just to break down the Chloramines.

edit...it appears to be chlorine and not chloromines provided you use their water
