My QT

I'm setting up a 20-long QT. I added enough Instant Ocean to bring it up to 1.021. What salinity should I target? Don't many vendors keep their fish at low Sg to minimize parasites? I'm thinking that it might be easier to acclimate a stressed fish to a lower salinity now, and just let water evaporate slowly over time to raise the sG nearer to that of my DT.

Also the water's a bit cloudy...could that be from not adding the salt gradually enough, and causing some kind of precipitation? Thanks

DD maintains their fish at 1.025.
LA at 1.021.

Salt can definitely make the water cloudy for a bit.. give it some time.

As for the SG, imo I would keep the QT as close to the parameters of the display tank until a problem rears it's head. I wouldn't want to keep the SG low and keep something dormant only to find it when I put the fish in the DT. However, your point is valid about a slightly lower SG being less stress on the fish..

Good point about possibly "masking" a problem with lower salinity!
