Marco Rocks Dry/Live combo?

Hey guys i have just set up my first tank. Its been running 5days now. The tank is 48"L, 12"W and 19"H. Originally thought it was 50 gallon, but only got 42gals in it. Anyway i have the 42 gals of water in there along with 40lbs of live sand. Have a 200watt heater running along with an Emperor 400 pro series filter. I wanna add some rock and kick start the cycle so to speak. I was looking into the Marco Rocks 25lbs dry rock/5lbs live rock combo deal. I know i should have prob 1LB per gallon of rock, but my wife would like to add other non "live" decorations to the tank. Would that combo from Marco Rocks be good enough to kickstart my tank? And would the other decorations be OK in the tank too? Also thinking about the "bacteria in a bottle" available from Marco Rocks. Thoughts on that? Thanks guys! Very excited to have this process started!

You probably want more like 2 lbs per gallon of rock. Your sand took some of your water volume which is why you did not add 50 gallons of water.

The more "live" rock and sand you can add to start the better. Maybe you can get a live rock from your LFS, and see if your local reefers can give you a cup of sand.

That combo is just fine. I did something similar with 30 pounds of BRS Eco-saver rock and 5 pounds of haitian live rock. It's churning away in a rubbermade tote. There's no reason to add the bacteria in a bottle IMO. The bacteria in the LR will seed the base rock.
