Silly Question

What should I buy if I wanna do RO/DI water at the house for water changes. I see the five stage systems but how do you fill up your buckets with that? Im just tired of going to United to fill up and dragging a million 5 gallon buckets around. Thanks Guys.

Hooking up a RO/DI unit is very easy. It will take about 2 minutes without any tool. Most RO/DI units come with a variety of hose adaptors / connectors. One of which will allow you to hook it up directly to a household faucet. You turn on the RO/DI unit and 2 lines of water come out. One is the waste water which you can store for later use (such as washing car, water the plants, etc) and another is the clean water which you will use for your tank. After you are done making water, you shut off the faucet, disconnect the unit and store away.

The number of stages on a RO/DI unit do not necessary reflect the quality or efficiency of it. Talk to a few of the RC sponsors such as BRS, Buckeye Field Supply, SpectraPure, etc and they will help you to pick the right unit.

No question is silly.

The size of the unit you buy is dependent on the volume of water in your system. I use the Mighty Mite from Air, Water, Ice (a RC sponsor). It hooks up to any faucet and makes more than enough water in one day to last me a couple of weeks. It's completely portable and works great for people who rent and can't tap directly into a water pipe. I only have a 60 gallon tank though.
