Drying Time

Quick question - how long do you wait for your PVC piping to dry (PVC cement and purple primer) before you start running tank water through it? This is in an established tank, just doing some upgraded plumbing.

Thanks

Depends on the pressure. It's pretty much good to go in an hour. Takes 24 hours for full pressure though. So if it's a drain, your good, if it's a return, maybe wait till tomorrow just to be safe.

Not that long.....even under full flow the pressure on the joints aren't that strong b/c water is flowing thru...if you close it off w/ a valve and the pressure builds then you should wait longer...

Follow the label directions for potable H2O.

Follow lable directions - interesting.... OK after 2 hours can pressure test to 180 lbs sq in. Nice.

I'm more concerned with fumes & stuff. How long do you wait to make sure any nasties are gone before running tank water through? Do you flush with RO/DI water first? I'm not paranoid BUT I don't want to kill my tank off either.

Probably safest to flush it with fresh H2O since I'm offering advice, I personally wouldn't worry about using RO. In reality I don't think I've ever rinsed mine.
