treating in QT

Hi I have had a flame angel trio in quarantine the last 4 days two look great still and feeding now, one has lost some color (the vibrancy of its orange) and is breathing a bit heavily, I have been doing water changes every 2 days or so as needed according to ammonia readings, but should I treat it with some kind of appetite stimulant or anti parasitic?

What do you see that indicates you need to? Don't treat for what might be there, treat for what you know is there. Good water does wonders.

Is that one eating? Are they all getting along? Any chance he's getting picked on?

ammonia is right where it needs to be, it is doing much better today.....perhaps the fresh water change is what made the difference. I did a 20% last night rather than the usual 15% and it has made a real difference. Ill keep everyone posted

Cheers

what does this mean? if it's not zero it's not where it needs to be. it's not enough for ammonia to just be "low." any presence of ammonia, no matter how little, is constantly damaging the fish's skins and gills.

if your QT is not cycled, you may have to do large water changes twice a day to combat ammonia and nitrite. by large I mean 50%.

Where it needs to be is ZERO and that's where it is, I'm not feeding heavy by any means at this point it's to premature I'm trying out different foods to see what is in their spectrum of acceptability in their nutrition.

Cheers
