new to the hobby

I have a 35 gallon hex, no sump, protein skimmer that is suggested for a 65g and i have about 4 pounds of live rock and 4 of dead (i realize i need alot more rock for a greater bio load capacity and will be getting another 15-20lbs. I currently have one valentini puffer and one blue damsel. I would like to try to add a few leather corals, hopefully the puffer wont bother them and would like idea on other fish that I could Possibly add

I would focus on your rock before even thinking about adding any more livestock. One, as you pointed out, that will make sure you have a decent amount of room for bacteria to grow so you can support a larger bioload more easily. But also as you add rock, that is going to upset the balance of the tank and it will take a while for things to balance out. And while that is happening, water quality will be moving around, which will put stress on live stock. So I would recommend not adding any more livestock. And for the sake of the livestock in there now, to very slowly add small amounts of live rock so the impact on the water quality will be minimal. Add a piece a week or something. Preferably well cured or better yet from an established tank. Eventually you'll have a nice happy tank with a nice balance of bioload and bacteria population.

I bought all my live rock from a well established tank so it should be well cured by now, i hope atleast. Yes I would like to try to have some coral with my puffer I bought only one piece to test it out, if the puffer eats it then ill have to make a decision I guess. I bought and L.E.D set up so ill experiment with that and see how it works out
