Thanks for the tips. I had the tank running so well for about 6 months with no losses and great coral growth, so I got a little confident.
Regardless of what the culprit was, I should have gone a little slower. I could have changed out the sand bed over the course of a few days and seen how everything in the tank reacted instead of adding 15 pounds of a new substance in my tank in one shot. And I should have asked on here about how to make your own RO/DI water. I got the unit, hooked it up and assumed it was as simple as adding salt to the water. Had no idea it needed to settled for 24 hours before adding to the tank. Live and learn I guess. I'll get back to being methodical about things, which is what got me 6 months of success in the first place, and hopefully I'll see the corals start to recover. |
