Puffer and Coral?
I just wanted to update. I had mentioned before that I was going to try to make a puffer and coral tank work (valentini puffer) and it has, I have two pieces of leather coral and a montipora undata (large piece). All has responded well and the puffer hasnt bothered them

big mistake .he will wait till you fill it with expensive one of a kind coral and in one night he can take it all out.you have been warned.gl.thats like putting pirahna's in a guppy tank they will only not touch them unless kept stuffed with food and doing that for puffers and pirahnas is messy they eat like pigs leaving loads of tiny food bits behind wich will makes you wtaer nitrate high and you have to slow down and then he starts on corals.they are one of the puffers food group.i wish you the best of luck bro.why would you want to waste that time and money it will happen and it will crash youre tank.

Next time you're out pick up an extra box of tissues because you are going to have issues.

Sqwat you were correct in the expensive coral part but not the one who decided to eat some. My Green emerald crab decided coral is delicious! I looked in the tank just as he was ripping off a piece and eating it. He will be going back to lfs for a trade in.

As far as puffers go, the Canthigaster family is about as safe as you can get in a reef tank. Keep it well fed, and make sure to leave some small pieces of rock rubble in there (they pick them up to trim their teeth), any you may have a good experience with it. They are small fish, and as such have a small mouth, so there is only so much that can fit in there.
Corals are cool, but so are fish, just figure which one is more important to you. Me personally, I like fish and flowing corals....so unlike many in the hobby....I keep an overstocked tank with soft corals and gorgonians....others may brag about their 47 acro frags, but me, I like my football sized colonies and fat pretty fish.
