Ozone question

I had purchased a a used ozotech poseidon with the internal pump and I just set up my avast marine reactor. I have an apex controller and i am regulating the ozone with the ORP probe. I didnt calibrate the probe but I spot checked it with the pinpoint ORP 400 solution and it read 399 so my probe should be good. Presently my ORP reading is at 233 and it is not rising and my ozone generator has been running for 2 hours. I know my reactor is getting enough air because the dwyer meter is all the way at the top. Although I really dont know if ozone is being created. How long does it take usually for your ORP to rise?

How many mg of ozone are you putting in? I see your system is around 280 gal so would take definitely a day or two.
I have a 800 gal system and it took a day before I noticed the ORP to go up when I added ozone

My unit puts out 220 mg/hr so I guess i just have to be patient. I guess I was expecting it to creep up a little bit. I will let it run for a day and see what happens. Thanks for the reply nreefer.

It is normal for it to take up to a week to get an increase in orp and the orp probe also takes some time to stabilize. I would recommend running a lower dose for a few weeks instead of putting a full dose in, this will give it time to work without danger. I say this based on my experience with ozone since 2005. The probe does not read correctly right out of the box, even when freshly calibrated. There is a reason for this, but I don't recall it at the moment, I am on meds for a couple of herniated discs, so my brain isn't functioning correctly. Watch your skimmer for changes in skim color and amount, when you see this, you will know your device is working. Also, ozone has kind of a sweet smell, and you can smell this from the output of the device...just don't sniff it for long. :-)

Lmao! Thanks sirreal. I hope your back heals up man. I have my apex set to turn the ozone reactor off at an ORP of 325 just to stay safe.
