Adding sand
So I'm not sure if its a straight forward as it seems, maybe it is....
When I started my aquarium, to be honest I didn't know what I was doing. That being said, I did not give myself a deep enough sand band. The tank is now thriving and about a year and a half old. How would I go about adding more sand without completely disrupting everything?

From what I've read here most people use an automotive funnel to avoid long periods of cloudy water.

A funnel with a tube works pretty good. Just turn the pumps off while you are doing it. Keep in mind that if you are going for a deep sand bed, you will need 4-6 inches of sand. Think carefully if you want that in your display. Most people don't care for the look of it and create the DSB in their sump.

Good advice. I am actaully about to start a larger sump, I guess that would be a good time for it.

You want 1 to 1.5 lbs per gallon. If your low you can add but do it slowly. Add maybe 1 or 2 cups per week. Adding to much to fast could cause a recycle from small to very unwanted. Like anything in this hobby its slow and calculated moves.
