New tank got some questions...please help
So I heard that I dont need a filter but it would be better to have a protein skimmer, is this true? Also lighting if I want so SPS and some LPS corals what lights can any one recommend? I have a 29 gallon tank
Thanks! |

I'd say that statement is false. IMO, you need a filter of some sort. Maybe try an Aquaclear 70 or 110. The protein skimmer isn't absolutely necessary but is definitely nice to have if you got the extra bones to shell out for one. As far as lighting, i'd go for LEDs.

I agree with RC. You need some kind of filter. I try to not use carbon or bioballs because I want my system as natural as possible. But that's just me, many people have successful systems with carbon and bioballs. As for lighting LEDs are the way to go, invest in one that uses Cree leds because they are more intense
