Biocube upgraded panorama pro LED lights getting hot??
Today I gutted the stock lighting out of my Biocube 14 hood and left the metal plate and screwed a Panorama Pro into it. I also replaced the splash guard for protection. I love the LED lights a lot and it makes the tank look great! The only issue/question I have now is about the heat. I thought LEDs didn't get hot. I understand that the light strip is on metal but there are two holse under it and a gap between the metal and the hood and two small holes where the buttons used to be. Should I be worried? Does anyone have any tips or experience with this? Thanks!!!

LEDs will generate heat. I have had XM-Ls go up to about 70C before no problems. (Not on a fish tank mind you).
How hot is hot? In general if you can put your hand on there and hold it, it is fine. If you look at the LED chart, the current derate starts at about 50C for a very average junction. Have Fun Mark |

Oh it's not HOT by any means. I can place my hand and leave it without a problem. I was under the assumption that it would have any heat at all. I was just so proud of installing it that I was worried I mounted it incorrectly since it wasn't cool. I feel better now. Thanks for the response.
