Live Rock Opinions
Does this LR appear to be worth $13/lb
I was thinking about going with 10 pounds of this and then 20 of their regular LR which is also cured but doesn't have much life on it. I can deal with the lesser LR eventually becoming seeded... I'm assuming this would be more efficient than ordering the LR and paying for shipping and dealing with the dead loss from the shipping. Thought's? |

$13/pound is up there. I'd maybe just get one or two small pieces to seed the rest of the rock. I'd recommend buying dry rock on line like Marco rock. Great shapes, reasonably priced, and doesn't com with potential unwanted hitchhikers. Then buy a couple pounds of this stuff to seed it.

You can get cured rock like that in the selling section on this forum for half that price...
I would never, lets repeat that, NEVER spend that much money per pound for any live rock...

Agreed way too much. Plus how much of that $13/lb will die off in transit and you'll be upset?

We have better looking rock than that for sale between local club members for 2-3 dollars a pound. Yikes!

You may need 50 posts before you can get to the 'for sale' forums... or maybe that's just to sell, I don't remember.
Stuff for sale: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=89 List of reef clubs: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=80 I didn't see any for Lansing or central Mich, but did find one in Grand Rapids: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=359 I assume you are in Lansing (just based on the avatar)? I grew up NW of Detroit... it feels like a long time ago on a planet far, fra away! LOL! Ask about a local club at your LFS, that's how I found mine. If you don't have one, start one. Ours is only 4 years old and it's great. 150 members, cool website, guest speakers and cool field trips.

Awesome, I appreciate it and I'll definitely look into it! I'm a Bay City native, but am currently attending/playing ball at MSU. I want to start my tank so badly but I'm going to be so busy for the next few weeks with our B1G Ten Championship game and the bowl game, but soon as all that is over, reefing it is! I don't have the "privileges" to look at the selling page yet =( , but what are some recommendations for online vendors of LR, I've seen a lot of good things about premium aquatics.... |

That's a pretty steep price for live rock. Even with shipping I think you could get WAY better deals online.

I'm really considering ordering from them, I'm just hesitant from reviews I've read....but it sounds like you had a great experience...do you happen to have any pictures of your LR you could share!? |

I will get a picture here soon. I have ordered rock several times and have always had good luck with their rock. My LFS here has terrible quality rock so I have always ordered online

Check your local forum or one in a city nearby. The cost of a drive will almost always be worth it I purchased 75# of liverock from this forum a month ago. Every inch of it was covered in zoas, acans, gsp, some tiny yellow polyps that I still haven't id'd and an acro the size of my fist...for 75 bucks. One dollar a pound. Those deals aren't common but there are always good ones popping up in the forums, every month |
