Slimy freshwater holding tank
I changed out my RO/DI filters tonite and decided to take my freshwater holding tank down and give it a good cleaning since I have never cleaned it in the almost two years that its been in service. It looked perfectly clean, but it felt very slick and slimy inside, just like the inside of an aquarium full of fish feels when you drain some water out and run your hands along the glass. Is this bacteria that has formed in my holding tank? all the old filters felt slimy like this also, which they were also almost two years old. I just recently started showing a TDS reading of .1 and my color changing DI was showing to be exhausted, so I just went ahead and changed all the filters, except the membrane. should I change them more often just for bacteria sake? (IF thats what the slimy residue was.) I have been battling cyano for a while and now Im starting to blame the water supply since I found this slimy coating in my tank.

Yup, it's bacteria alright. Basically the holding tank has cycled. Good idea to clean that thing out a little more often.
