Another Reef Crystal/Brown Slime Thread

So I'm using RC as I setup my first tank. As others have experienced it creates a brown slime in my mixing container (20g Brute).

I leave a mag 5 running in the bin constantly which mixes it up and keeps it at temp for water changes in the QT and DT.

Has anybody determined whether or not this slime creates a problem? Once my bin gets emptied my about half I mix up another 10g so I always have premixed on hand in case of an emergency.

Should I be considering a switch of mixes?

Only if it's going to give you peace of mind,I've used reefcrystals
In the past and it left that brown slime and I never had any problems with it,
Are you using ro water to mix?

Most people who use RC have this happen, and it's not a problem at all. I use RC and every 6 months or so I'll take my brute outside and pour in a gallon of vinegar and fill it 1/2-3/4 with water and pump the water around for an hour or so, this removes the brown film. I don't think cleaning is neccessary, I just do it to make myself feel better about it.

I had a bad batch of RC. Bought a 200g box and one of the bags had so much film that it was balled up and floating around. Instant ocean pretty much said too bad and I should talk to who I bought it from. I didn't bother. Pic attached, not the best quality

this is what my maxijet looked like after mixing RC salt, looks like it was used to mix concrete. needless to say, I stopped using RC.
