How to remove coraline from glass?
Hi. I have this bright green algae on my glass. I was told that it was coraline. This stuff is on the glass pretty good. I tried using the magnet thing and my fingers but this stuff barely comes off. It would take an eternity to remove it the ways I have been trying. Any ideas of what to do? I wouldn't care so much but it's on my front glass.

Kent and other companies make scrapers that hold stainless steel blades, similar to what you would get at HD or Lowes to clean paint and goo off windows except with longer handles. Only issue is there is some flex in the longer ones, so you can't get the pressure that you can with a hand-held blade.

+1 on both suggestion. If you are worried about cutting the silicone seal at edges of tank, I fond a expired credit card works also.

You'll just need a long arm for some tanks.

I have removed lots of coraline growing on the glass with the razor blade, but still have trouble with the green algae. It really sticks! Is there an issue with causing micro scratches on the glass that will promote precipitation of growth in these sites???
Gotta go do a water change, pronto! |
