Garlic clove in fuge
Thinking of placing a garlic clove in my fuge output chamber. Don't know if this would be of any benefit. Just been wondering about the benefit of garlic and if this is something that would do anything positive. Anyone do this? Thanks

I wouldn't do it. Over time it's just going to rot and foul up your water. You won't see any benefits. IMO, garlic is kind of overated, but here's a good article though.

nah it will rot. i use garlic extract made by kent and it works great. i just wish it was a larger bottle. once a month i put drops into my tank directly about 10 - 12 drops for my 115 gallons of sw. and one day out of ever other week i put two drops on a single cubes worth of mysin shrimp thats already defrosted. this works great for me and the fish love it.

Garlic dissolved in the tank water won't do you any good, it's not a medication nor a trace element. Garlic's use in our little world is simply a food additive that enhances the flavor of food, making it more palatable for our fish.
What you can do is take that same clove, put it in the food processor with a 1/2 cup of water and puree it, then add a little of the water to your food, and let it soak for 10 min. before feeding.

garlic has been proven in humans and in other animals to boost immune systems to prevent illness. I don't know if it helps fish I have used the liquid form mixed with my food for years now all the fish including picky eaters seem to like it.

I use the Kent brand on my pellets. Soak and let them dry. It does seem to make their feeding more aggressive. Could also be my imagination too, not rulin' that out.

keep in mind feeding fish too much garlic will introduce liver problem in the long run, so don't overdo it.
