slow moving CUC
i recently transfered over from my 26 to a 40. i made sure that my params we as close as possible to the 26 before taking the jump. today is day 4 after the move.
day 1 cloudy and everything is happy except coral who are getting alot of settling sand on them. day 2 water is mostly clear and corals are happier, 6-line wrasse seems very happy discovering all the new holes and caves. day 3 woke up and all my snails are up-side-down on my sand bed and wrasse is missing, hermits and emerald are doing fine, serpent star is balled up on the sand bed. had water tested and everything was ok: PH-8.0; ammonia-0; nitrite-0; nitrate-5-10; KH-7; Cu-0; temp 77.1-77.8 ....i added seagel and purigen, snails are still alive just not moving very much day 4 activity is the same as day three. i have noticed a lot of micro bubbles coming from my return nozzles.

Snails can be sensitive to nitrates... Above 20, is usually bad for them... You're not there yet, but it could be causing their slowness.

My snails also do that this time of year. I need to add a heater to the tank cause the temp drops in it where i have it located. Every year when my snails slow down, i put a heater in to raise the temp and they are fine so i would check the temp of your tank to make sure your heater is working.

i am so happy right now, i saw my 6-line come out for about 2 seconds so now i know he is still alive, 2 of my 5 black foot snails are moving very slowly.
ive only ever done 10% water changes on this tank, once a week, so what would be a safe amount if i wanted to do a large one?

I didn't notice a magnesium reading. I've read reports of high magnesium slowing down snails/CUC.

i havent done a Mg test on this tank yet but this CUC is used to 1380 which i believe is near the higher end, i will probably have it tested again tomorrow after a water change and i will have them run a Mg test as well to see if maybe its out of whack
