octopus 140 pellet reactor possible issue??
hi
i just put on the large octopus 140 reactor.... it seems like the water when it comes up on the bottom deflector only rides up on 1 side... so i need to raise the flow pretty high to get all the pellets moving...it is now a very strong flow with pellets raising on one side and falling over to the other side...kind of a round motion... but it is high and you can hear the pellets colidiing in the reactor.. i expected the water to be shot straight down and reflect evenly up all around the deflector plate.. thoughts? is the high flow a problem??? |

Could be your stand is not level. I had this problem and my stand was not quite level which was causing my sump inside my cabinet to be un-level also, wasn't off by much either. I also had to turn up the flow a little but hasn't been a problem.

i tried moving it around...doesnt solve it...just had to raise flow to overcome it....
i only have 500 ml of pellets in it so once i add some more maybe that will overcome the issue??? |

It looks ok to me. As long as the media is tumbling I dont think it matters. Make sure the shaft that feeds the water is over the top of the fitting at the bottom of the reactor. Sometimes its a PIA to seat it when there is media in the reactor.

I have the baby Reef Octopus reactor and on it, it is possible to assemble it with the center tube NOT sitting on the the centering spike at the bottom properly. It sounds like your center tube is offset which would cause what you are describing.
That is the biggest annoyance with this reactor, it is difficult to put the pellets in and keep the center tube in the right spot. Mine tumbles the media amazingly well though as long as you assemble it correctly.
