Water change????
My tank has been cycling for about a month now and the parameters are:
pH-8.4 Ammonia-0 Nitrite-5.0ppm Nitrate-40ppm Should I do a water change to help get rid of some of the nitrites and nitrates? |

I'd do a 10 percent change religiously every two weeks from this point forward. Do this in addition to other daily and weekly chores (clean skimmer, filter sock, etc.). In this way, you're establishing a good maintenance routine that will keep your tank in tip top shape for the long run.

In addition to the small bi-weekly water changes, you might want to change out as much as you can (up to 50%) soon to lower nitrate to a more manageable level. 40 is pretty high, and your cleanup crew won't appreciate that. Plus you still have nitrite, which means nitrate will get even higher before it's done.
