Feed pump and sponge for Korallin C1502?

I'm setting up my first CA reactor, a Korallin C1502. Originally I was going to install a fitting to feed the reactor via the main sump return pump. The issue is that I turn off that pump regularly for feeding, so I'd kind of like to have another option to feed the reactor.

Will an aqualifter provide enough pressure? When I tested the setup with freshwater and an aqualifter it didn't seem to really pressurize well. Should I go to something like a MJ? If so what would be sufficient, a 600 or 1200?

Does this reactor require a sponge placed inside it? If so I'd need to get one - should I cut my own? Where does the sponge go, at the top of the media?

Great reactor. I would stick with the pump it was designed to be used with, the Eheim 1048.

Here's a manual that should cover everything.

Yup, that pump works great for circulation. You still need to gravity feed the pump, which I have ruled out, or have an external pump "feed" the reactor, which is what the question was about.

oops...I'm guilty ....I glanced over the top of your post.
It does mention using a Maxi-jet 400 or Rio 90 in the manual for feeding the reactor .

Great, thank you very much!

Anyone have any experience using these pumps to feed or others?

Oh yes, and do I need a sponge in the reactor chamber?
