icecap 660 problem
I have an icecap 660 running four four foot t5s on a 55 gal tank. It is an open air air canopy and I have fans blowing directly on both ends of the bulbs as well as one directly on the ballast itself. My problem is that the lights keep shutting off after a period of time. Sometimes they last four hours and sometimes they last 45 minutes, but I always need to give them some time before I turn them back on or else they immediately shut off again. When they shut off I feel the lamps and ballast and while they are warm to the touch they are never what I would consider hot. I have checked and double checked the wiring and everything is wired correctly and all the connections are tight. When it first started acting up I had no cooling fans on the bulbs and added those but it didn't make any difference. If anyone has had this issue or any helpful suggestions I would appreciate it.

open that baby up and you will find that the plastic fuse holder might be burned or melted, replace it with a new fuse holder and new fuse and you are up and running. To open the box, use a small drill bit and drill the rivets that are holding the case together. GL
