Question what is the maxium water height for this skimmer?

I have purchased this custom built acrylic sump.

I am trying to figure out what is my maximum water height in the protein skimmer section??? is 7" maximum??? so I am very limited with my skimmer choices?

Will there be only 7" of water height throught the whole sump?

or can I have 9" of water in skimmer section, than 7" in second chamber and 7" in third chamber?

I am trying to purchase a cadlights 1150 skimmer which is reccomened to be in 8-9" of water.

Will it be possible for me even thouigh my second chamber wall is only 7"???

NEED HELP PLEASE!

the way this is made yes you will only have 7" of water in the 1st and second chambers at a bare minimun. in reality you could fill it right to the top and have 15" of water.

so you could run anywhere between 7 and 15 inches

Well I am no expert by no means but it looks like the sump is set up to have 7'' water level in the it. This should be easy to change if:

1. you manage to change that 7'' baffle with a taller one that would work with your equipment,

2. you somehow add to the height of the existing baffle and raising the water to the desired level. This should be easier than 1) IMO. All you need is a scrap piece of acrylic cut to the size you need and some silicone.

On another note:
Where do you plan on putting your skimmer and what goes in the middle chamber?

the first 2 chambers run at a min of 7" the last can run less because if you starve your sump your returm pump will draw out more water from that chamber so it will be lower.

if you want a min of 9" in the first chamber i would change the first baffle to 9" like kriv says.

this way you would have 9" min the first chamber for the skimmer you would like to purchase.

I would say with that sponge in there you will probably at about 7.5" height. Mine is baffled at 9" and with no sponge the height is at 9.5" .

If he has 7'' in the left(bigger) portion there is no way to have 15'' of water in the right chamber because all partitions of the sump are linked and therefore they should be with the same water level aka some of the water from the right will pour into the left side resulting in higher water level in the sump.

Or at least that's how it looks to me......

water will always level itself being as the first baffle has the outlet so low it is possible to fill this sump all the way full.

if you run the sump so water has to flow over the last baffle than yes it will run at a max of 7" +/- the foam restriction

the skimmer is going in first chamber (left section) where the sock is, the middle will be a small refugium.

I just cant figure out if the first chamber is limited to only 7" of water.

that chamber the way it is set up will never have less than 7" of water in it. if you need more water i would either change the baffle height so your minimum is higher for what you need or just run with more water in the sump.

if you run with more water in the sump all chambers will have the same depth of water
