brown algae
I started my 210 gal tank 8 days ago. i used live sand premium blend? a couple live rocks from lps . im running protein skimmer abduction phosban reactor. using a 55 gal. sump . power compact lights with 10000 and actinics . water has been a little warm around 79 . ph 8.4, among. 0. nitrite 0, nitrate 20 now im starting to see progressive brown algae on substrate and live rock. what would cause this so fast. any thoughts would help

its most likely diatoms. its expected and natural for a young tank to get some, it will subside and die over time

So nothing to worry about, no need to lower light cycle or up ph?

your ph is 8.4 not sure how much higher you could go lol if anything you might want to try and lower it to 8.2
What is you light cycle right now? Most people on here suggest to just let the diatoms run their course so thats what I would suggest as well.

Like Tony mentioned it's really natural to have a diatom bloom when the tank is cycling.Just make sure to use ro/di because silicates fuel diatom bloom.Many municiple water supplies have silicates.
