Question long tentacle anemone help

i bought this big guy and now that he is in my tank he wont latch on to anything. i had one before but it got flipped over and ate itself. i read about putting it in a pvc pipe fitting. is that safe? is there another way to get him to latch?

I believe long tentacles like to have their foot wedged under a rock and in the sand, so if you could build him a little structure similar to that and try to place his foot in there, that might help him get his footing, so to speak

How old is the tank?

If it is under 4 months old the anemone did not eat itself (they don't do that) it dissolved/died.

What size tank?
What lights do you have?
What are your current water parameters --- with numbers please
How long has the tank been set up?
How deep is your sandbed?
What all do you have in the tank -- livestock wise.
What color is the anemone?

I truly hope that you are wrong, but have a feeling that you are correct.

Not anywhere near enough light with the standard flourescent tubes. It cant survive in that environment. It wont attach because its trying to find a spot with more light. You really need to upgrade your lighting or take the nem back until you can. The white means its bleached due to insufficient light.

The amonia and nitrite arent helping either. Both should be 0.

what I was going to say.

If you are reading ammonia and nitrites you need to get that figured out first.. you dont have the stability needed for a nem

Is there any live rock in the tank? How much? What other filtration do you have? You need to get the amonia and nitrite stabil at 0.

As for lights, a 4x54watt T5 fixture would be plenty.

ok just went out and got the light. the nem is actually purple and green. it does have some white spots but i just got it 2 days ago. i just did a water change so that should help with amonia and nitrite. i have a few big pieces of live rock. prob around 40pounds. then for the filter i have the aqueon 75 gallon. im in the process of building a sump though
