Question I need your thoughts on a 90 corner tank

We have a 90 gal tank now and our fish have grown as well as one huge coral attached to several rocks. The corner tank we are looking at is a 92 corner Aqueon, which looks like it would provide more space for our blue tang to swim.
Our current lighting is an aging Coralife 48" Deluxe lunar series compact fluorescent & another 50/50 Coralife fixture. We are thinking of purchasing T5 lights if we move to the corner tank.

Would it be worth the trouble of the move for possible swim space in the corner tank, or should we look at other options?

I would just get a 6' tank. I doubt the corner tank has more swim room. It may even have less.

+1 on the 6 foot tank...I would imagine lighting a corner tank to be a pita.

IMO its only a couple more gallons I dont feel it would make that big of a difference. I have 2 very small tangs in my 65 gallon and Im gonna have to go to a 125 to make sure the tangs are in good shape for the future. If space is a issue maybe look into like a 120 gallon cube basically 36 x 36 x 24. And build all the rock in the middle so the fish can swim 360 degrese around it. People have 10,000 opinions on tangs. My theory is a lil different. If they arent showing signs of stress then you are ok. People have been on me for having a naso and a yellow in such a small tank, Im going bigger between 125 and 180 depending on cash flow. There are also some companies that make 150 gallon corner tanks.

Xcast.. Lighting a corner tank is easy. A single 250 watt over the center covers it all.

Thanks to all of you for your helpful comments! We went to the store and removed the "hold" on the corner tank.

I would move to a 120g 4" its basically 4'x2'x2' or the cube idea, or a 125 if your space allows you, or a 155 bowfront would be ideal

I am also a fan of "if your tang looks healthy and happy....he prolly is!" I kept a yellow and a spotted rabbit in a 40g Long for quite a long time. now they live in a 90g like yours. I love the 90g, maybe you can spend your cash on upgrades for your current tank, like a new light, new filter equipment, etc.

your tank looks great as is, so maybe the upgrades would be better, another thing to remember is moving those fish and coral is going to stress them out quite a bit. not to mention that coral growing over several rocks will get torn, etc

just a thought

Corner tanks are tough to work with (light, flow, very little room for sump below). Also its only 4ft across in the front of the tank, and obviously pinches in the back. Depending on how you setup your rock, it really wont offer more swim room than you have. I have the 92g corner tank, and while it looks nice in its location, I regret not getting a 6' tank.

I would go for an 8 foot tank, give that tang of yours a proper sized home.
