Best LED colors ???
I am planning on updating the hood of my 14 gallon biocube with the retrofit rapid LED kit. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on color mixtures for the 12 leds going into the hood. I've heard that 3 cw, 3 ww, 4 rb, and 2 cyan was a good combination....Anyone else have any experience with rapid led or seen any other good color combos???
THANKS EVERYONE!!! |

Please don't use cyan. I use them over a freshwater tank, and regret ever getting them. I would never put them over a reef, their greenish color is just overpowering. I have to keep them quite dim.
For 12 LEDs, I would personally use 3 neutral white and 9 royal blue, and just be done with it. You can get some really nice 3-emitter stars that have exactly this from LED group buy (just google it, can't link it here). The benefit to using those 3-up stars is that you get much more consistent color mixing.

Redfish, thanks for the reply...I checked out that website, and there are so many options for lights in there and no kits lol. I dont think I have the knowledge to put together a bundle of lights and other components to create a new hood for my tank. Are there any builds you know of that could help me out with that?
thanks! |
