how to clean up urchin spines from tank
I got a pencil urchin today from reefcleaners, and unfortunately it looks like it may not survive the trip. It had already shed a lot of spines in the bag, the bag had punctured and lost a lot of water, and the water was rather cold.
I did the acclimation and the urchin basically flips itself onto its side and then sits there and sheds spines. My snails have occasionally gone over one of these spines and stung themselves so I'm trying to figure out the best way I can pick the spines up off the substrate? |

Don't give up on it. Many inverts look dead for 24-48h (meaning zero movement) and then begin to thrive.
