Sea Swirl advice

Hi all,
I have purchased 2 x 1" sea swirls which I am very happy with. As I dont have a closed loop system I have had to do a work around. Currently the 2 SS are fed by 2 x laguna 7500lph which are in the main tank. What im asking is if the maybe a better solution than having the feeders in the tank?
This is a rough pic of what i was thinking but not sure if it needs priming everytime it stops or just the initial time?

Sea Swirls

Ther are made to be used on your return pump.
That said I see no reason this would not work as long as the siphon end never comes out of the water.

Vinny is right. I would extend the pipe down a little bit. Not too much though. Only other point I'd make, and it's a detail thing, you need a way to start the siphon. On the back side, before the elbow turns downward, I'd use a tee with a sealable cap.

I remember a few months back reading a thread where a guy did this exact closed loop thing (no sea swirl but the pump as you've configured). Try to see if you can search for it because it went into some detail about the suction side that I can't fully recall.

according to your drawing, you should only need to siphon it the first time, after that you shouldn't have to .every time you cut it off an turn it back on b/c some water should still remain in the pipe, that's enough to get the pump started and siphon in water.
