Anyone have experience with LED spotlight for Refugium
I've read a lot of discussions about LED lights, DIY, etc for refugiums. I just want to know if anyone has experience using a simple HD or Lowes LED spotlight to grow chaeto in a refugium ? Something like http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...ryId=202670526
Not cheap, but not too bad in the electrical bill dept either ... Thanks. |

Interestingly, the florescent has about same lumens per watt. Although I don't know which will produce better growth. Lumens does not equal growth !

I don't know about the LED, but you should get good growth with the CFL flood-style light.
Testing from a few years ago shows you want a higher colour temp though. They found 5100K was better than 2700K (though I'm not sure 6500K CFL floods were available then). |
